A Human Living on Planet Earth ... 🌍

I am an immigrant.

I have an accent.

I was born in Russia and moved to the USA in 2002. I’ve visited more than 30 countries on this planet & really hope to see more. Culture and diversity excite me & also make me stretch in the best way! For the last 24 years, I’ve made the US my home.

In my heart, I don’t feel like I am a citizen of one country. More appropriately, I think of myself as a human living on planet Earth.

What is happening in Minneapolis has been traumatic. I have many tools to process the emotions – the same tools I’ve used to heal my childhood and adult trauma. The same tools I use with clients. And yet – it’s been an intense few days.

At this point in my life, I don’t need the president or the government to tell me that I am worthy or whole, and that I belong. I FEEL that in the depths of my heart and bones. And, yet, in the last few days I’ve been triggered – those parts of me that haven’t been fully seen, integrated, accepted, and loved (by me and no one else) resurfaced:

-      Self-criticism of my accent

-     The fact that I still make grammatical mistakes when I speak or write

-     Doubt about people endorsing my business and work, and becoming my clients based on nationality

-     and more …

The fact is that I have experienced judgment in the past, in the form of jokes, comments, stupid questions, presumptions, and facetious comments. I forgive it all.

They made me stronger in the same way that, in the past, I’ve expected my parents to accept me and show unconditional love. I’ve learned to receive this kind of love from God instead.

A few things are important, however:

-   There are practical things – why people immigrate. And also, there is a Soul’s purpose. Our purpose as human beings is to accept diversity (often, not easi). And, for that, we need to mix!!! :)

Every immigrant brings with them their culture, language, history, experience, beliefs, and more … This can open up people’s curiosity and show that there are different ways to do things.

-   -   While, biologically, we are primed to be scared of something different or new -- out of survival. In 21st century, however, it’s time to move past survival and more into thriving and creating.

-    -   Violence creates karma!!! It’s as simple as cause and effect. It creates debt in consciousness, which needs to be repaid in the future. It’s not that karma is bad, but it’s time for us to evolve out of karmic relationships, where it’s an eye-for-an-eye type of purpose. It’s exhausting.

I must also acknowledge all the incredible humans living in this country (and other countries). Alongside judgment, I’ve experienced so much kindness, support, generosity, endorsement, curiosity, celebration, and opportunities. I am humbled by it, and very grateful!!!

I am feeling much better now, btw!!! But it felt important to share …
